Sale of the Springfield State Register.

Charles H. Lanphier, esq., for a long time editor and proprietor of the STATE REGISTER newspaper, announces that he has sold that concern to a stock company, whose directory is composed of Alex. Starne, John Moore, B. S. Edwards, John T. Smith and Charles R. Hurst. Mr. Lanphier has been connected with the REGISTER for over twenty-eight years, having been engaged on it when it was the state paper and published at Vandalia, the then capital of Illinois. He has taken an active part in the political history of the state, and is, we suppose, the senior member of the editorial profession in the west. He retires after long service well and ably performed, and will carry with him to private life the well earned good will of the thousands who have known and respected him in the past. — Chicago Post.
