[Herald's Special.]

NASHVILLE, July 26. — A sensation dispatch, dated Atlanta, the 22d, published in western papers, created a totally false impression. We have not yet occupied Atlanta. It is believed here we have done better than that, and are keeping Hood's army. Hood appears to have been much chagrined regarding the fight of the 22d. There has been no fighting since the 22d. All railroads leading from Atlanta, except the Macon road, have been destroyed. There appears to be no disposition on our part to hasten the occupation of Atlanta. Other things can be done than attacking the enemy in their works. Sherman is not likely to force an engagement in which the enemy will have very great advantage.

Reliable information has been received that everything is going on right.
