CHICAGO, July 14, 1864.

The state committee of the democratic party of Illinois, met at the Sherman House to-day. There was a full attendance. The committee organized by the appointment of Isaac H. Diller, of Chicago, chairman, and George Judd, of Sangamon, secretary. The committee decided to call the democratic state convention, for the nomination of state officers, at Springfield, on Tuesday, September 6th.

WASHINGTON, July 13 — Skirmishing has been constantly going on, and our troops have acted strictly on the defensive until yesterday evening, when the rebel sharpshooters becoming annoying, it was determined to dislodge them from the front of Fort Stevens. This was effectually accomplished, amid shouts of applause from those who witnessed the action. The rebels retired in hot haste, leaving at the house of F. P. Blair, Silver Springs, 100 of their wounded, including eleven officers, and their dead upon the field.

A reconnoissance this morning shows that the rebels disappeared during the night form the front of our fortifications, after firing a number of buildings they had previously occupied as a shelter for their sharpshooters.

Scouts report the rebels crossing the Potomac nearly opposite Poolsville, driving before them about 2,000 head of cattle which they had stolen, while a dispatch received by Halleck, form Rockville, save the retreating rebels passed through that place at 3 o'clock this morning moving in the direction of Edward's Ferry.

The rebels near Bladensburg moved off this morning taking the road westward and carrying with them a number of horses, cattle, &c., stolen in that neighborhood. Several sqads of rebel prisoners were brought in to-day and taken to the Old Capitol.

Our killed and wounded yesterday amounted to about 200.
