Burlington Aug, 5th 1866 I have the honor to acknowledge the Receipt of your letter of 30th Ult, Making inquiry as to my knowledge of the early history of our Martered President, which will require some time to answer intelligably, As I will have to consult our Family Record, My Mother and elder Brother, [1] who are in Van Buren Co Iowa, Any information I can give you, I will take great pleasure in doing, I see some pretended histories of Mr. Lincols life, which are Manifestly in error in detail.
