27. Edward R. Roe to William H. Herndon [1]. Bloomington, Jun, 16th. 1865 Friend Herndon: I take pleasure in answering your interogatories so far as I can. Mr. Lincoln's Praecipe vs. the I.C.R.R. was filed Jany. 3d. 1857 Declaration " " Same day, " Summons issued Same day " Served on S.W. Dodd, Station-agent, on Jany, 15th, 1857 and was returnable to April term, " Judgement, June 23d. " for $4,800. Depositions of N.B. Judd, O.H. Browning S.T. Logan & Archy Williams in behalf of Pltff are on file. Davis first Sat as judge at the April term, 1849, in the 8th dist. you must refer to the current laws for counties composing district at that time, as I cannot learn from the records. He resigned a Short time previous to the December term of our court, 1862 barely giving time for a Special election for his Successor, John M. Scott.
