455. Edgar Conkling to William H. Herndon [1].

Cincinnati O. Sept. 27/67

Dr. Sir:

I see by the papers that a Dr. Eaton [2] of Ky. recently died suddenly a half brother of A. Lincoln This may be another clue to information

Dr Montfort is writing for facts but I dont think it is practicable to get them by writing to parties too busy to get them or to remember them, while by personal visit to locations many may be seen who will remember what those written to know nothing of, but which facts after a while will leak out. Whatever the facts are I should like to see you get them reliable

Very Respy
Edgar Conkling
