With her husband, Josiah, Elizabeth Crawford came in 1826 from Kentucky to Spencer County, Indiana, where they were near neighbors to AL's family. AL and his father were both employed at various times by Josiah Crawford, who supported AL's presidential campaigns and his course during the Civil War.
