AL's co-counsel in the murder trial of William "Duff" Armstrong at Beardstown in 1858, Walker was a successful attorney in Havana, Illinois. The alleged murder took place in Mason County, where Havana is located, but the trial was moved to Beardstown in Cass County on a change of venue.
