Elizabethtown Ky April 11th 1866 Dear Sir You will please pardon my delay, as I was unable to find the marriage of Thomas Lincoln and Miss Hanks and the delay has been occasioned by my writing to Grayson & Washington Counties, to find if they were Married there, I have heard from Grayson Co. and they were not married there, Have not heard from Washington, but suppose they were not married there, or I should have heard from the clerk [1] I am now unable to tell you any thing definite as to the said Marriage. He, (Thomas Lincoln). was Married in this County to Sarah Johnston on the 2d day of December 1819. (This was his second marriage) If the Knowledge of his first marriage ever comes to me I will communicate it to you at once.
