247. Isaac Moore to William H. Herndon.

Boonville Inda Sept. 27th 1866

Dear Sir

Our P.M. hands me your favor of the 23d inst, he also handed me your previous letter which I enclosed to Judge DeBruler of Spencer County for reply

There was an attorney practicing here in 25 & 30 named John A. Brackenridge, who afterwards say about 1850 moved to Texas and during Mr L's administration visited his old friends here, and also the city of Washington. Mr B. was a native of the city of W. and son of the Rev John Brackenridge a clergyman of the old school Presbyterian Church. He the lawyer came here when about 22 years of age, and was in active practice until about /48, when his health failed and was regared as at the head of the Bar, in this section of the State, I have no Knowledge of the matters refered to by you as I was not born until /31

Judge Pitcher a resident of Posey County who is judge of this common Pleas district came to this part of the State about the time Mr B. did. He will be here on the 15th of Oct next, when I will inquire if he recolects anything about the trial.

Rest assured that I will do what I can to assist you in the matter because I desire to accommodate you, and more especially because of my reverence for the great and good Mr Lincoln

I sent your other letter to Judge DeBruler because Mr L. was a resident of that County and the probabilities are that the trial took place at Rockport instead of Boonville

Very Respectfully
Isaac S. Moore
