Note from page 146: 1. Bull-pen was a ball game in which a group of players threw a ball at other players within a designated "bull-pen." Cat (short for "catapult") was played by a group of boys forming a small circle. A stick (the "cat") was thrown out of the circle, and the person who was "it" chased after the stick while the other players scattered.
