Allegro marziale,
1. Arise, ye valiant men of God, and put the warrior's armor on;
The temp'rance battles must be fought, the crowning vict'ry must be won:
No flame of fire will wreath our heads, as forth to battle we shall go;
For we will wage a "peaceful war," until the conquest of the foe,
For we will wage a "peaceful war," until the conquest of the foe.
CHORUS.
Arise, ye valiant men,
Arise, arise,
And onward hasten to the fray;
The temp'rance banner wave on high, till glorious vict'ry crowns the day.
2. Arise, ye valiant men, and strong to battle for a sacred cause;
And meet the foe on ev'ry hand, who would defy the nation's laws:
The love of all that's dear to us, our youth, our kindred, homes and friends,
Unite to say, "Be valiant now, the priceless heritage defend,"
Unite to say, "Be valiant now, the priceless heritage defend."
CHORUS.
3. From o'er the land there comes a wail, of souls to bitter anguish given;
Thro' demon drink, with subtle power hath ev'ry cherished hope been riven:
And shall not we, who name the name of Him who died to save the lost,
Unite with those who bravely fight against the traffic's cruel host?
Unite with those who bravely fight against the traffic's cruel host?
CHORUS.
4. The brave and fair are falling fast, beneath the tempter's iron heel;
And ev'ry where, with tearful eyes we see the ruined victims reel:
Arise, arise, ye valiant men, and hold, to do the will of God;
Arise to battle for the right, and break the dead oppressor's rod,
Arise to battle for the right, and break the dead oppressor's rod.
CHORUS.
