Lieutenant Jefferson Davis

Lt. Jefferson Davis served with the United States Army in the Black Hawk War, under the command of General Winfield Scott. Like Scott and the Illinois militia captain Abraham Lincoln, Davis went on to greater national significance. As President of the Confederate States of America, Davis challenged the Union led by Lincoln in the American Civil War.
