Louis McLane
Louis McLane was Jackson's second Secretary of the Treasury. He was a Federalist but shared many of the same ideas of Jackson. McLane did support the Bank's cause and supported its renewal of its re-charter. After the break up of the Kitchen Cabinet, Jackson wanted to stay away from anymore controversy that could threaten his re-election and agreed not to veto a re-charter if it was presented after the 1832 Election and with certain modifications. McLane passed this good information to Biddle, who unfortunately did not follow McLane's advice.
